Close-Range Fighting

F-RAT: Close-Range Fighting

Fight-RAT is the core empty-hand course of the RAT Fighting System. It is built on one idea: get into close range, stay there, and end the fight. You don’t trade blows from a distance. You crash the line, take the attacker’s structure, and finish him in trapping range with headbutts, knees, elbows, and eye rakes. F-RAT follows the 90% solution: a small set of high-percentage, gross-motor techniques that work regardless of size or strength. It is also the foundation for Stick-RAT and Knife-RAT, because sticks and knives are extensions of the empty hand.

What You’ll Learn
Day 1, Classroom (Zoom or live)
• Legal use of force: when you can fight, how much force is justified, and how your decision will be judged afterward.
• Situational awareness: seeing trouble coming and deselecting yourself as a target.
• Training the brain to fight: the OODA Loop, the reactionary gap, the body’s alarm response, and how to beat the freeze.

Days 2–3, Live
• Fighting measure, distancing, and footwork: closing the gap safely.
• Entry: crashing the line with kicks and the straight blast, and intercepting attacks.
• Trapping range: removing the attacker’s hands, controlling his structure, and attacking with headbutts, knees, elbows, and eye rakes.
• Staying close: pressure and forward drive that keep the attacker from resetting or escaping.
• Clinch and ground: getting back to trapping range, or causing pain, creating space, and getting back to your feet.

Who Should Attend
Anyone who wants practical empty-hand skills for a real-world attack, whether they are civilians, law enforcement officers, or security professionals. This is not a sport, a martial art, or a fitness class. It is about stopping a violent attacker and getting home safely.
